TV shows Recap

Welcome to a brand new segment of this blog where I will recommend several TV shows that are definitely worth your time to binge-watch throughout the entire drama series. Unlike the past movie reviews that I have done so far, I will not be reviewing these TV shows, but rather just provide a summary of the entire TV series, from the very first to the last episode.

The purpose of this page is to let you have an overview of the entire TV show so that you can decide for yourself if this particular TV show suits your preference and worth your time to binge watch. Even if you don’t like the TV show, at least you have some background knowledge of the story in the TV show so that you don’t have FOMO during a casual chat with your friends/colleagues.

Before we get started with the summary, I would like to say that this page will also cover a wide variety of TV shows from many different countries, mainly the U.S. and Korean TV shows, and also features a few drama series from Netflix. I will try my best to cover most of the storyline in the TV series and I look forward to your support and feedback. If you have any suggestions on any interesting TV shows, please do leave a comment and do let me know. Thank you very much. 🙂

Chernobyl miniseries (2019)

All image credits : HBO

I believe many people would have heard of the Chernobyl disaster, one of the world worst man-made disaster in history. For those who don’t, the Chernobyl nuclear accident happened on 26 April 1986, which caused 31 deaths directly from the accident and thousands projected deaths due to the disaster’s long-term health effects. The accident was the result of a flawed nuclear RMBK reactor design that was operated with inadequately trained personnel, which caused huge steam explosion and fires being released at least 5% of the radioactive reactor core into many parts of Europe.

Before I proceed further, this is not a documentary but a TV drama miniseries with 5 episodes. The 5 episodes cover the events leading to the Chernobyl nuclear accident and also the impact on the citizens living near the city of Pripyat in the north of the Ukrainian SSR after the accident. Prior to watching this drama series, I do not have any idea as to how big of an impact the Chernobyl accident had on the country, given my limited knowledge on the situation taken from several news articles and videos covering the accident. After watching the entire series, I sympathize with the citizens living in the area while raging at how the Soviet Union’s authorities were trying to cover up the story. Without any further delay, allow me to introduce some of the main characters and later on the story in each episode.

Played by : Courtney Cox

Monica Geller – The OCD one. Monica is a very well-organized person and a clean freak. She is also a very competitive lady who aspired to be a head chef. She has a brother, Ross Geller, and is close to Rachel and Phoebe. She is like a “mother” among the group of friends.

Played by : Jennifer Aniston

Rachel Green – The Loyal one. Rachel is a spoil turn independent lady who has many guys chasing after her. Her most notable chaser would have to Ross, who has been chasing her since high school. She has a passion in fashion and offered her empathy and loyalty to all her friends.

Played by : Matt LeBlanc

Joey Tribbiani – The Ladies’ man. Joey is an soap-opera actor who aspires to be a famous movie star. His famous role would be Dr. Drake Ramoray from “The Days of our Lives”. He dates multiple ladies throughout the entire series and his favourite pick-up line is “How you doin’?”, which worked all the time.

Played by : Matthew Perry

Chandler M. Bing -The Funniest one. Chandler is a funny joker who likes to make sarcastic jokes to every possible situation as a form of a defence mechanism. He has a room mate/ close friend named Joey who he enjoyed playing pranks with. His job and middle name remains as a mystery to his friends.

Played by : David Schwimmer

Ross Geller – The Arrogant one. Ross is a paleontologist who is obsessed with Dinosaurs and Rachel. He is Monica’s big brother whom his family doted him more than Monica. His love life was probably the worst among the group of friends with 2 failed marriages and an on-and-off relationship with Rachel.

Played by : Lisa Kudrow

Phoebe Buffay – The Eccentric one. Phoebe is a massage therapist who also works in Central Perk as a guitarist. She thinks very differently from the rest sometimes but she is definitely not crazy. It was her weird actions that make her so funny and lovable to everyone.

Supporting Characters

Besides the main characters, there are several supporting characters and special guest appearances throughout this series, such as Brad Pitt , George Clooney and Julia Roberts. In this section, I’m just going to focus on the some iconic supporting characters.

Played by : Maggie Wheeler

Janice -The obnoxious one. Janice is Chandler’s long-time on-and-off girlfriend. She has this annoying laughter that make her so hilarious. I laughed a lot whenever she laughed. She is quite devoted to Chandler and whenever she met Chandler, her iconic catchphrase “OH MY GOD!” can be heard.

Played by : James Michael Tyler

Gunther – The shy one. Gunther is lovable character despite playing a minor role as coffee shop worker at Central Perk. He appeared in almost every episode where the group of friends were in the coffee shop. He has an unrequited love for Rachel and always do whatever he can to confess his love to Rachel. Sadly, it wasn’t a happy ending for him.

Alright, so now that I have finished introducing the characters, it’s time for me to summarize the seasons from 1 all the way to 10. I will summarize each season which includes the main storyline in each episode and funny moments in that particular season. Furthermore, I will include some of my personal favourite episodes to watch. Enjoy.
